The Chipewyan language is a language spoken by the Chipewyan people of central Canada, including parts of Alberta, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Saskatchewan. It is also called Dene. As a result, Chipewyan has 17 phonemic vowels and 9 oral and nasal diphthongs of the form vowel + /j/. Spoken Chipewyan also has two tones: high and low.
